Virtually every parent of young children has experienced outbursts of anger and frustration from their toddlers. According to a study published in a pediatric journal, tablet use by children at 3.5 years old was associated with a higher number of expressions of anger and frustration a year later. Children who were more prone to anger and frustration at 4.5 years old were also more likely to have higher tablet use a year later. The study suggests that early tablet use may contribute to problems in emotional regulation. While tablets can assist in learning, they should not be used as pacifiers or babysitters, as they can hinder social engagement and emotional development in children. Setting limits and promoting active social interaction can help mitigate these effects.
